Freedom Centre Visit

This morning Sheerness Town Council officer Becci visited The Freedom Centre and met with Gemma Friday to hear more about how funding from Sheerness Town Council’s Community Grant Scheme has been used to support their members.
The grant awarded last year was used to purchase new garden furniture, helping create an outdoor space where members can relax, socialise, and take part in RSPB Nature Prescriptions activities focused on connecting with nature and improving wellbeing.
Unfortunately the weather was not on our side today, so we did not get to see the garden furniture in action.
During the visit there was a busy arts and crafts session taking place, with lots of creativity and activity happening throughout the centre.
The Freedom Centre provides support and activities for adults with physical and learning difficulties and is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm.
There is always something happening at the centre, including:
• Arts and crafts
• Chair exercises
• Quizzes
• Parties and social events
• Music sessions
• Nature activities
• Trips and outings
The team are currently looking for:
• New members
• Volunteers
• A volunteer minibus driver
• Donations and raffle prizes
• Arts and crafts materials
The Freedom Centre is always happy to welcome visitors, so anyone interested in finding out more is encouraged to pop in and see the fantastic work taking place.
A huge thank you to Gemma and everyone at The Freedom Centre for the continued support they provide to the local community.
