Swale Borough Council has recently carried out a review of the Sheerness-Marine Town Conservation Area and the Sheerness-Mile Town Conservation Area.
The review takes the form of:
• A Conservation Area Character Appraisal which explains the special architectural and historic interest of the area;
• A Management Strategy which provides guidelines to ensure that its historic significance is sustained through potential enhancement work/projects and ongoing development management and
• Proposals for revised boundaries to the Conservation Area.
Before confirming any change to the Conservation Area, the Borough Council is keen to listen to the views of local residents, local businesses and other key stakeholders.
The draft new Conservation Area documents can be viewed (in PDF format) online at: https://www.swale.gov.uk/conservation-areas/
Comments/feedback on the Conservation Areas Character Appraisal’s and Management Plan’s document should be provided in written form only and sent either by email or post to the relevant addresses no later than Thursday the 21st September 2023. I regret it may not be possible to take comments received after this date into account in finalising the document. Please respond to them individually, clearing stating which area your comments relate to.
