PUBLIC CONSULTATION – BEACHFIELDS PLAY AREA
On the 15th of December 2022 the large play unit at the Sandpit, Sheerness was subject to an arson attack which resulted in the unit being left in an unsafe condition and had to be removed.
Following consultation between Swale Borough Council and Sheerness Town Council it was agreed there was a desire to replace the unit and Sheerness Town Council agreed to match fund the project.
Option 1:
The Man O War provides a large destination-style unit for approximately 50 users with an age range of 4+. The unit allows for a wide range of both play and social values and offers low-level activities for users with mobility limitations. The track ride option provides a wider range for older users.
The metal framework construction is corrosion-resistant, and the panels are resistant to vandalism and graffiti.
Option 2:
The Shipwreck provides 2 x medium and 1 x small units for approximately 45 users with an age range of 3+.
