King’s Coronation Celebration
The staff at Sheerness Town Council have been hard at work over the past week organising wildflower seeds to go out to all the primary schools in Sheerness.
1500 packets of seeds were dropped off to Richmond Academy, Rose Street, St Edwards and West Minster primary schools this afternoon. These will then be given to every child to be planted.
If your child attends one of these schools then look out for the seeds in their bag. They are a special bee-friendly mix and contain over 30 different types of wildflower. Each has been carefully selected to attract bees.
Just sprinkle them thinly on soil or compost. You can sow the seeds in your garden, borders, pots, a park, or window box. Then just keep watering so the soil is damp and the first green shoots should appear. The seeds will flower from June until end of September.
In addition, a poster has been designed inviting the school children to draw a picture to celebrate the Coronation. It can be anything they like, maybe the King or a Crown, or Buckingham Palace?
The pictures will then be collected from each school to be judged and prizes given to the winner and runner up later in the month.
