Sheerness Town Council has expanded its community lifesaving project with the installation of bleed kits alongside all eight of its public access defibrillators.
The new kits are designed to help members of the public respond to serious bleeding emergencies while waiting for the ambulance service to arrive. They can be used in a wide range of situations, including accidents, falls, road traffic collisions, sporting injuries, workplace incidents and other emergencies involving severe blood loss.
A catastrophic bleed can become life threatening within minutes. These kits contain specialist equipment to help control severe bleeding and provide immediate care until professional medical assistance arrives.
The bleed kits are available at the following locations:
• Sheerness Town Council Offices, 177 St George’s Avenue, ME12 1DS
• Co-op Sports and Social Club, ME12 1EJ
• Medway Road Allotments, ME12 1DR
• New Road Playing Field, ME12 1BW
• Aggarwal Accountants, 1 High Street, ME12 1NY
• Rose Street Public Toilets, ME12 1AJ
• Sheppey FM, ME12 1HH
• Isle of Sheppey Sailing Club, ME12 1BE
The installation of these bleed kits complements the Council’s existing network of public access defibrillators, ensuring residents have access to emergency equipment for both cardiac arrests and traumatic injuries.
Sheerness Town Council remains committed to making the town a safer place to live, work and visit. As part of our ongoing defibrillator project, we are always keen to hear from businesses, community groups and organisations that would be willing to host a public access defibrillator in an appropriate location.
For more information about the project, or if you are interested in becoming a host location, please contact Sheerness Town Council.
