VE Day 2026

Sheerness joins communities across the country to mark the 81st anniversary of VE Day.

On 8 May 1945, people gathered in streets, homes and town squares to celebrate the end of war in Europe. We remember the courage, sacrifice and resilience of all those who served during the Second World War, both on the front line and at home.

As we commemorate VE Day 2026, we also reflect on the importance of peace, unity and community. Their legacy continues to shape the freedoms we value today.

Sheerness Town Council thanks all those who served and all those who continue to keep their stories alive for future generations.
