Sheerness Town Council Annual Meeting 2026
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last night for the Sheerness Town Council Annual Town Meeting.
It was fantastic to see such a fabulous turnout from members of the community, local organisations, partners and residents all coming together to hear about the work taking place across Sheerness and the wider Isle of Sheppey.
We would also like to thank Sheerness Dockyard church/IslandWorks for providing such a beautiful venue and for the wonderful teas and coffees enjoyed throughout the evening.
Chair of Sheerness Town Council, Cllr Dolly Wooster, opened the meeting with her Chair’s Speech, highlighting the work, achievements and ongoing projects of Sheerness Town Council over the past year.
The evening also included a presentation celebrating the organisations supported through Sheerness Town Council’s Community Grant Scheme. The scheme was created to support local organisations and projects that benefit the residents of Sheerness by strengthening community activity, encouraging participation in inclusive projects and improving quality of life across the town.
During the 2025/26 financial year, the Council supported 34 local organisations through the scheme, awarding £18,500 in grant funding, alongside additional funding for community projects. It was wonderful to showcase just some of the amazing groups, charities and organisations making a real difference within our community.
Thank you to our guest speakers:
• Larissa Reed, Chief Executive of Swale Borough Council, for providing an informative update on borough wide work and priorities.
• MP Kevin McKenna for his speech and support for our community.
• PC Alison Honess from Kent Police for her update on local policing and community safety.
• Phil Greig for speaking about the incredible work of Oasis Hub Isle of Sheppey, including the Community Allotment, Street Club, Red Door Youth Club and the Sheppey Support Bus.
A copy of the Community Grant presentation and the Chair’s speech presented during the meeting can be found on our website and will also be posted on Facebook.
The evening was a great example of our community coming together, sharing ideas and working in partnership for the benefit of Sheerness.
Thank you once again to everyone who attended and contributed to such a positive and engaging evening.
