Kent Police Update – Sheerness
Report read out by PC Rich Hewes at Sheerness Town Council’s Full Council Meeting on 15th December 2025.
Councillors and members of the public received the latest Kent Police report for Sheerness, highlighting recent activity and positive progress in the town.
Key updates included:
• Two males were arrested and charged following the theft of the Nutcracker statue from outside Luke Allum Funeral Directors. Enquiries continue to locate the stolen item.
• Four offenders were arrested for multiple shoplifting offences in Sheerness, resulting in 21 charges.
• Police officers attended and engaged with residents at the Sheerness Town Council Christmas Event, alongside councillors and the local MP.
• Joint working has taken place with Kent Police’s Search and Marine Unit, with plans for future operations to address nuisance jet skis along the seafront.
• Local officers continue to support community groups, including the Island 2 Island event and the Dementia Café.
• Reported crime and anti-social behaviour in Sheerness is down by nearly 13%, with serious crime also reduced. The local crime “harm score” is 28% lower than at the start of the year.
